What $185 to $290 a foot gets you
Every style is 1.5 inch square posts, a solid cap rail and steel we cut ourselves. The price climbs with the time each one spends on the bench, not with the name.

Our most ordered railing. 3/4 inch square pickets under a 1.5 inch cap rail, spaced so a 4 inch ball cannot pass, which is what the code inspector checks.

A job on Sumner Street last spring. The wooden steps and rail were past saving, so the owner had a mason pour new ones. We cored four posts into them and ran picket up both sides.

Four places a railing goes, and the rule each one has to meet
Every railing we draw leaves no gap a 4 inch ball can pass through. The rest depends on where it stands.
Stairs
Handrail 34 to 38 inches above the nose of each step, round or 2 inch flat so a hand can close around it.
Stair feet are priced at 1.4 times, because every picket is cut to the angle and every post is cored into concrete.
Porches and decks
A guard 36 inches high wherever the floor is more than 30 inches above the ground.
On wood decks we bolt through the rim joist with blocking behind it, not lag screws into the face board.
Balconies
Most towns here ask for 42 inches on a second floor. We check yours before we draw anything.
Side-mounted posts keep the deck surface clear and leave no holes for water to sit in.
Older homes
Brick and stone steps get core-drilled posts set in hydraulic cement, the way the originals were.
Scroll railings are bent on our own jig in Brookhaven, so a replacement bay matches the rest.

Ten years on the finish, in writing, and it moves with the house
Every railing is sandblasted, primed with zinc-rich powder and top coated in our booth. If it peels, blisters or bleeds rust in ten years, we take the section back, strip it and recoat it free.

How close is the calculator to the final price?
Most written prices land inside the range. What moves it: how many corners and posts the run needs, whether your steps are concrete, brick or wood, and whether an old railing has to be cut out of concrete. The written price after the measure is fixed, and it is the price on your invoice.
Do I need a permit, and will my railing pass inspection?
Replacing a railing on existing steps usually needs no permit in the Tri-County towns. New decks and balconies do, and we pull the railing permit for you at cost. Every railing we draw passes the 4 inch sphere rule and the height rules above, and we are there for the inspection if your town wants one.
How much do I pay up front?
Nothing for the measure. 40% when you sign, so we can order steel and book the powder coat line, and 60% after install once you have walked it. Card, check or bank transfer.
Can you install in winter?
Yes, down to about 20°F. The finish is baked on in the shop, so cold does not affect it. Posts set in concrete use a cold-weather hydraulic cement. Snow days just move your install by a day or two.
What does the 10 year finish warranty cover?
Peeling, blistering, chalking and rust coming through the powder coat, anywhere on the railing, for ten years from install. If it happens, we take the section back to the shop, strip it, recoat it and reinstall it at no charge. It moves with the house if you sell.
