Four kinds of work, each with the warranty written next to it

Every roof we sell carries two warranties: ours on the workmanship, and the manufacturer’s on the material. Both are on the quote, both are on the invoice, and both are registered before we leave.

  1. Asphalt shingle roofs

    Full tear-off and replacement with architectural shingles, ice and water shield at every eave and valley, new drip edge, ridge vent and pipe boots. Most homes take one day.

  2. Standing seam metal

    Panels cut to length in the driveway so there is no seam across the slope. Concealed fasteners, 24 gauge steel, and a finish that holds its colour through county winters.

  3. Repairs and leaks

    Flashing at chimneys and walls, cracked pipe boots, lifted shingles after wind, and the slow stain on the ceiling nobody can explain. We find the source before we quote the fix.

Started with a used pickup and two ladders

There is no mission statement in the office. There is a photo of Walter on a roof in Kettering Cross in 1984 and a whiteboard with next week’s jobs. Everything in between is below.

  1. 1984

    Walter Aldermoor buys a ladder

    Walter had spent eleven years roofing for someone else. That spring he bought a used pickup, two forty-foot ladders and a roll of business cards, and replaced his first roof on Kettering Cross for a neighbour who paid half in cash and half in firewood.

  2. 1997

    The boys come on

    Sons Graham and Neil finish school and join the crew full time. The company buys the yard on Tallow Creek Road, hires its first two non-family roofers, and starts installing standing seam metal alongside shingles.

  3. 2011

    The storm year

    A June hailstorm damages roofs across the north half of the county. The crew tarps 140 homes in nine days and spends the next two years replacing them. Half our reviews still mention that summer.

  4. Today

    Three generations, four crews

    Walter still checks every job on a Friday. Graham runs estimates, Neil runs the crews, and granddaughter Elin handles scheduling and answers the phone. Four crews, twenty-two people, one standard.

From the first phone call to the last nail

    The free inspection

    Graham or Neil walks the roof and the attic, photographs everything and shows you the pictures on the tailgate. If the roof has years left in it, we tell you that.

  2. 2Within 48 hours

    A written price

    One page, itemised: tear-off, underlayment, shingles or panels, flashing, ventilation, disposal. The number on the page is the number on the invoice.

  3. 3Install day

    One crew, one day

    Most shingle roofs are stripped and finished between 7 in the morning and dusk. Tarps over the beds and the pool, magnets across the lawn before we leave.

  4. 4The day after

    Walk-through and warranty

    We walk the property with you, drive the last nail you point at, and hand over the manufacturer registration and our 10 year workmanship warranty.

Letters, calls and the odd pie on the porch

Most of our calls start with “you did my neighbour’s roof.” That only works if the neighbour is still happy a decade on.
